Periodontal disease

Gingiva becomes dark red if bacteria overgrowth occurs on the tooth surface and in the gingival pocket.
It is called gingivitis.
Gingival pocket becomes deep and periodontal pocket. Gingiva becomes dark red. Tartar, bad breath and pain occur.
It is called periodontitis.
It not only causes troubles of oral cavity, but occasionally causes disease of heart, kidney, life-threatening problems.

Laser therapy for periodontal disease

Cleaning by veterinary and non-anesthesia laser therapy cure light periodontal disease.
For more serious periodontitis, cleaning with general anesthesia and scaling and laser therapy inside gingival pocket are necessary, and it occasionally requires tooth extraction,

【Remarks of medical care】

Tooth extraction becomes necessary if disease progresses and it causes various concomitant diseases although daily dentifrice can prevent periodontal disease.
It is recommendable to consult with a veterinary regularly in addition to daily dental care.

Effectiveness of high power laser therapy

  • Incision of gingiva during tooth removal
  • Incision and transpiration of weak reactive epithelial tissue
  • Sterilization of bacteria inside gingival pocket
  • Transpiration of exudate inside gingival pocket containing bacteria

Effectiveness of low power laser

  • Tension recovery of gingiva
  • Depth reduction inside gingiva caused by acceleration of tissue attachment
  • Acceleration of recovery of alveolar bone from deficit, specially horizontal deficit

Stomatitis

Cats occasionally suffer from stomatitis with severe pain with gingiva, tongue and oral mucosa caused by scratches, viral infection and decreased immunity.
It often causes periodontal disease and generalized condition is aggravated because of low appetite.

Laser therapy for stomatitis

Medication and non-anesthesia laser therapy are effective for mild status. For worse status, cleaning with tooth removal using general anesthesia and laser scorching heat for damaged tissue are needed.
Non anesthesia laser therapy and medication reduce pain of advanced stomatitis, but it is not radical cure.

【Remarks of medical care】

Stomatitis of cats are often accompanied with severe pain, and generalized condition is aggravated.

Daily dental care and early stage medical care are important.
At the early stage, medical treatment and laser therapy are effective. But for serious conditions, medical operations with tooth removal under general anesthesia becomes necessary.
Regular vaccination and examination by veterinary is imporatant.
